Rodin. One of my favorite skin care and beauty lines died a slow death with the line coming to a close in April 2021. Started by former fashion stylist, Linda Rodin, she stepped down from the brand back in 2017. The company was sold to Estee Lauder in 2016.
Estee Lauder shuttering the brand was quite a surprise to me, but at the same time it was not. No reasons were given as to why the brand was shut down, but I have my suspicions.
At one point, I could not go past an Instagram post or editorial beauty spread without a mention of the ever popular Olio Lusso Luxury Face Oil.
Packaged so simply, but gorgeously, I had to give this product a go for myself. Surely, not to be disappointed, I was smitten. But when I didn't see much fanfare about the line in the last year or two (maybe more), I knew something had to be amiss. I went to the Rodin website and saw the announcement about the brand being shut down. It was almost like losing a friend. But to be honest, I wish the brand was never sold to Estee Lauder. When Linda stepped down, the "soul" of the brand went with her.
I said all of that to say, RIP Rodin. It was marvelous while it lasted.
