K Beauty Series: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

When Korean beauty products became all the rage, I didn’t jump on the bandwagon right off.  My first knowledge of “K-beauty” as it’s referred to, were BB and CC creams.  Of course, being a woman of color, I knew those products didn’t have “me” in mind and that was okay as I was partial to my favorite foundations and tinted moisturizers.  But the more I read about the skin care and saw products pop up in stores, the more I was intrigued.

The Sephora’s and the Ulta’s of the world kept stocking loads of sheet masks and other skin care items in their skin care aisles and after a while, I dove in.  My first “K-Beauty” product was actually a “K-Beauty” inspired product from the Sephora skin care range.  Sephora has a whole gaggle of private label items like very, very affordable sleeping masks, sheet masks, eye masks, and lip masks.  My first product was a sleeping mask and I LOVED how it made my skin look!!  From that point, I was on the hunt to try more items.

One such K-Beauty product I recently purchased and tried was the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask.  I saw this lip mask on Sephora’s website and read great reviews about it.  With cooler weather coming in soon, I knew that I needed to keep my lips well hydrated and this product was screaming my name.

Now to be honest, I thought that this product would have been more of a “serum-y” textured product since a lot of the skin care from Korea is serum-based.  It was not.  It was more like a solid balm that smelled of fresh strawberries and it came with a really cute pink mini-spatula to apply the mask with.

THE DETAILS

TEXTURE

Buttery soft balm that almost feels like a lip gloss but a little goes a long way

STAR INGREDIENTS

A Vitamin C cocktail of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, blueberry, and gojiberry

With the texture, it goes on like a lip gloss.  And while it may seem to be something you can wear as a day product, it’s actually meant to be used at night.  Since this is an actual mask, it’s meant to dissolve dead skin and pump loads of moisture into your lips.  Wipe the mask from your lips in the morning and you will be left with plump, smooth, and well hydrated lips.

If you’re someone who suffers from perpetually dry lips, you may want to give this a try.  I think that this lip mask can go places a regular lip balm cannot go.  And if your love wearing matte lipsticks on the regular, I highly recommend this product.
