It’s been almost three and a half years since I’ve let my relaxer go and I’m still learning how to care for it. My hairstylist mentioned to me that since my hair has gotten longer and is still growing, I need to pay particular attention to keeping my hair hydrated, especially since my hair shrinks like crazy! So that got me to thinking about ways I can keep my tresses healthy and hydrated as the temperatures begin to dip into the single digits.
With colder air coming in, it’s a prime time for breakage and dull locks and itchy scalp to set in. In order to keep your gorgeous hair even more gorgeous, here are a few items that I’ve come across that can help your hair happy and healthy.
- Use a sulfate-free shampoo like Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Moisture and Shine Sulfate-free Shampoo. Sulfate-free shampoo is less harsh on the hair and it helps to keep your hair from drying out because it doesn’t strip the hair.
- Switch your pillow case from cotton to silk. Cotton can certainly rob your hair of moisture and with the friction of sleeping on cotton at night, you run to risk of breakage. Slip Silk Pillowcase is a great option to keep your hair healthy. It’s definitely an investment piece!
- Deep conditioning your tresses are critical for hair health and Eden Bodyworks Jojoba Monoi Natural Deep Conditioner is a wonderful affordable deep conditioner that’s formulated with coconut, jojoba, and monoi. Keeping this product in your hair care arsenal will help prevent breakage and repair hair from the damage from styling and everyday wear and tear.
- In order to keep your hair healthy and growing, moisturize your scalp with light, non-pore clogging oils like NOW Solutions 100% Jojoba Oil. Not only is it great for your scalp, it’s perfect to use as a body moisturizer, too!
Other ways to keep your healthy, is to definitely eat well balanced meals and stay hydrated with some good ‘ol, tried and true H2O! What you put in your body will reflect on the outside. And f you take the time to do the right things, you can enjoy healthy and beautiful hair for years to come!
