There are times when a beauty product from a mass brand is just as good or even better than a more expensive beauty product and in this case, it would be the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Mousse.
And if I’m not mistaken, these beautiful matte lippies dropped sometime in 2019, but I am just now jumping on the bandwagon. I cannot remember the last time I bought anything from Revlon, but I was on a road trip and made a stop at a Walmart along the way and being the beauty junkie that I am, I ended up perusing the beauty aisle when these Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Mousse babies caught my eye.
Unlike a lot of matte textured lipsticks that I’ve tried in the past, these matte lip colors are super easy to wear. They go on like a dream because the texture is super creamy and they leave a pillowy feeling on the lips. You can wear the color as soft as you’d like and you can build up the color. The only draw back is when you do build up the color, it tends to get a bit “cracky” on the lips and the product can separate on the lips.
As with any matte texture, I suggest prepping your lips with a lip balm and then applying your first layer and letting it dry a bit and then add a second coat. Beyond a second coat is over kill. The shea butter that’s in this formula makes this one of the most comfortable matte lip colors I’ve ever worn. The texture is creamy, smooth, and balmy.
There are 14 shades in the line up and I chose the shades I’d wear the most. They are Spice (matte brown-mauve), Earthy (matte medium brown), Rocky Plum (matte dark purple), Dusk (matte deep mahogany-brown), and Crimson Sky (matte red-purple).
They retail for $9 on the Revlon website, but they can be found at much cheaper prices on Amazon or Ulta.
