The Deal With Face Mists, Sprays, Splashes or Whatever You Want To Call Them

When you have freshly applied makeup, it can look best when your skin and the makeup start to “meld” together so you don’t end up with the dreaded “cake face” look.  If you find that your makeup isn’t setting into your skin the way you’d like it to, give a face mist a shot.

For starters, many face mists in the past was mostly just water.  But now, not just for setting makeup, face sprays are now vitamin-infused, mineral-rich, and multi-use products that’s great for all skin types.

Face mists provide hydration (I’m all about hydration), setting your makeup (aforementioned), and as a skin refresher throughout the day.  With that being said, I would definitely check the ingredients because some sprays contain alcohol and can be drying to the skin.  So no matter your skin type, choose one that works best for you.

For my personal and professional use, MAC Prime + Prep Fix+ has always been a favorite.  When I say that it sets makeup beautifully, IT SETS MAKEUP BEAUTIFULLY! This soothing mist is a mix of skin saving antioxidants like green tea, chamomile, and cucumbers to cool and calm the skin and can be used with makeup or without.

Tarte Rainforest of The Sea Marine Boosting Mist is a fairly new skin care product.  I’ll admit that I bought it because I liked the packaging, but I can say that I like the product.  With a wonderful very light orange scent, I wasn’t too sure about this mist because it was a bit sticky on the skin.  But I gave it a shot for a good week and it’s one I go to often to set my makeup or use before I apply my foundation after my moisturizer.  Formulated with sea water (hydration), lentil seed extract (helps minimized the look of large pores) and caffeine (improves microcirculation and reduces puffiness and redness), I found that the little bit of stickiness that it does have subsides over time and you can glide you hand over your skin with ease.

For those who love the scent of roses, you will need this ASAP!  Heritage Store’s Rosewater mist has been around for a long time.  A blend of Hydroessential Rose Oil and Vor-mag water, this multi-use mist is perfect for a “pick me up” throughout the day.  A favorite among green beauty enthusiasts, this mist can be used as a body fragrance and for use in your bath.  This is my afternoon “3 o’clock pick me up.”  I keep a bottle on my desk at all times!
